My technique uses multiple layers through paint, paper and various mixed media. This creates richness and depth. The layering can bring in some wonderful connections and then I find new ways through those connections. Inspiration can come in many ways, for example cloth, old structures, the side of a dumpster, calligraphy. A large reminder note pinned on my studio wall reads: Make it up… which is how I most enjoy working. That is to say, allowing myself the freedom to explore, test, invent, construct, deconstruct. It's part of the mysticism of painting.
“There are no rules. That is how art is born, how breakthroughs happen.
